- Air moves across the evaporator coil, and the refrigerant absorbs heat from the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Some of the liquid refrigerant evaporates in the coil, then saturated gas returns through the suction line to the compressor.ย
- Saturated gas returns through the suction line to the compressor, and the cycle repeats.ย
When the compressor stops, the loop dies. So, then no movement or temperature change. Your fridge becomes an insulated box at room temperature.
